PRINCETON, N.J. – On the final day of the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships, Greg Perrier (Dix Hills, N.Y.) of the Manhattan College men's track & field team posted a time of 1:55.10 to finish seventh in the 800 meters at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium on Sunday. Perrier earned two team points with that performance, giving the Jaspers a team total of 21, which tied them with Maryland Eastern Shore for 13th place in the final standings.
Other Jaspers in action on Sunday included Rokas Kirlys (Kamaji, Lithuania) and Ian McGinnis (Philadelphia, Pa.), who finished 25th and 32nd, respectively, in the shot put. Kirlys uncorked a throw of 15.44 meters (50 feet, eight inches), while McGinnis had a best effort of 14.84 m (48'8¼). In addition, Trevell Moxey (Lansdale, Pa.) leaped 13.69 m (44'11) to claim 23rd place in the triple jump. Phil Ragan (Belmar, N.J.) had a solid performance in the javelin, taking 19th overall with a distance of 57.95 m (190'1).
Alina Koenigs (Moenchengladbach, Germany) took 18th place in the shot put at the ECAC Championships. Her top mark was 11.96 m (39'3). As a team, Manhattan tied for 40th on the women's side with five team points.
Up next for Manhattan is the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which will take place in Greensboro, N.C., from May 23-25. The top 48 athletes in each event qualify for the NCAA Preliminary Round, with the top 12 finishers at each of the two preliminary meets advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In the decathlon, the top 24 athletes in the nation qualify directly for the NCAA Championships, and Tom Bechert (Munich, Germany) currently has the eighth-best mark with his school-record score of 7767.
