RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers win their fourth game in a row, tying for second in the MAAC behind Sacred Heart.
The Keydets fought the Jaspers until the very end, cutting the Jaspers' three-point lead down to one before the final horn.
The first quarter was the only quarter in the entire game that the Keydets were able to outscore the Jaspers, pacing them 2-1. The first goal of the game was scored by VMI at 11:15, with a Jasper's answer to the goal not coming until 4:12. The Jaspers' goal that put them on the board was scored by
Drew Hiner.
The second quarter saw the strongest offensive quarter for the Jaspers, outscoring the Keydets by two goals, 4-2. The Jaspers finished off the half strong, putting up two goals in the final minutes of the half, scoring twice within just over a minute of play. The second goal was a man-up goal scored by
Scott O'Connor, assisted by
Quinn Bowler.
After a slow third quarter, the Keydets began to catch up to the Jaspers, bringing the game back within one goal before the end of the fourth.
Leading the Jaspers' offense this morning were both
James Basile and O'Connor. Both Jaspers scored two goals.
The Jaspers play again early next week against LIU on Wednesday, April 10, at 4:00 PM in Brookville, N.Y.
