BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Jaspers fall to Sharks this afternoon, ending their four-game win streak. The final score of the game was 13-12.
The Jaspers fought tooth and nail this afternoon to extend their win streak to five. However, the Sharks came out in this seemingly evenly matched game, defeating the Jaspers by only one goal. The Jaspers trailed at the close of each quarter but came the closest to taking the lead in the fourth, outscoring the Sharks by their largest margin all game at two goals.
The first quarter got off to a good start for the Jaspers, kicking off the game with a goal by two-time MAAC Offensive Player of the Week in under one minute of play. Midway through the first, the Jaspers would gain the largest lead they saw all game, pacing the Sharks by two. This lead would be swiftly shaved down to a deficit by the end of the first and all the way into the second.
The Sharks amassed their largest margin of victory in the second quarter, leading the Jaspers by four. Despite being down by four, the Jaspers rallied in the latter half of the second, scoring three straight goals to cut the Sharks' lead to one. After being outscored once more in the third, the Jaspers made their last attempt at overtaking the Sharks' lead.
The Jaspers scored three goals and held the Sharks to one, but this was not enough to take the lead, falling short of tying the game by one goal. The Jaspers saw a diverse range of scorers this afternoon, with eight separate Jaspers scoring. In the front of the pack was Gucwa, with four goals.
