FAIRFIELD, CT. – Stags defeat Jaspers this afternoon, shutting out the Jaspers in the first quarter. The final score was 16-8.
After being shut out in the first quarter, the Jaspers rallied in the second, scoring six goals. This onslaught surpassed the five-goal shutout by the Stags in the first. However, it wasn't enough to offset the Stags' strong offense, as they put up four goals of their own.
The first goal for the Jaspers in the second quarter didn't come until the Stags had finished their nine-point run, holding the Jaspers to zero until 10:25 in the second. In a span of two minutes, the Jaspers fired off five goals, averaging one goal every 20 seconds. Two of those goals came from
Ashley Bonitch, approximately 20 seconds apart.
After being outscored 4-2 in the third, the Jaspers went scoreless in the fourth and final quarter.
Leading the Jaspers on offense this afternoon was Bonitch with a hat-trick. Behind her was
Reagan Mullins with two goals, one assist, two ground balls, one caused turnover, and one draw control.
The Jaspers play one more road game in the regular season, facing Mount St. Mary's early next week on Wednesday, April 17th, at 4:00 PM in Emmitsburg, MD.
