EMMITSBURG, MD. - Jaspers fall to The Mount in their last road game of the season, 12-8.
This afternoon, the Jaspers were edged by The Mount at the end of each quarter, with The Mount outscoring the Jaspers by only one or two goals.
The Jaspers briefly held the lead in the first quarter, with
Olivia Cruthers scoring the tying goal at 11:33 to bring the score to 1-1. This was followed up by a goal from
Ashley Bonitch three minutes later to give the Jaspers their one-goal lead. The goal was assisted by Cruthers.
The Jaspers' final push to take the lead came at the end of the third. Being down by seven, the Jaspers scored two goals at the end of the third to bring it within five. The first of the two came from defenseman
Andrea Liotta, followed by a free position from
Julianna Iovine with 19 seconds remaining.
The run from the previous quarter continued into the fourth, with the Jaspers scoring the next three goals to bring them now within two. However, this five-goal run came to a dragging end with both teams going scoreless for nearly six minutes. Ending the drought was The Mount, scoring a goal at 4:16. The Jaspers would not score again for the remainder of the game.
The Jaspers return home to play their final game on Saturday, April 20, at 12:00 PM, where they will celebrate their senior day match against Iona University.
