WORCESTER, Mass. - Manhattan College men's soccer opened the 2023 campaign with a 1-1Â draw with Holy Cross on the road. The draw snapped a two-game season opening win streak.
The Jaspers kicked off scoring with the teams first goal of the season coming from Henry Hamilton on a penalty kick. The score remained 1-0 into halftime before Matt McGonicle recorded a penalty kick goal for the Crusaders, putting the score at 1-1. Although both teams recorded double-digit shots, no one was able to find the back of the net the rest of the way.Â
The Jaspers were led in the net by goalkeeper Danny DiMarco. He collected two saves in his 2023 debut. Manhattan College was led in shots by Gunner Studenhofft who attempted four.
As a team, the Jaspers recorded six corner kicks and had four shots on goal.
Manhattan returns to the pitch on Monday, August 28 as it hosts George Washington at 1 p.m. at Gaelic Park. Manhattan College students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Jaspers at the first athletic home event of the fall.
