AUSTIN, Texas – Manhattan dropped game two of its series at Texas, 10-4, on Saturday afternoon.
Manhattan (3-10) led 1-0 before Texas scored the next five over the first two innings to take the lead for good. The Jaspers did push runs across the third and sixth before the Longhorns tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh.
Pete Durocher brought in the first run of the afternoon for Manhattan with a single to score
Ryan Ash in the top of the first. In the bottom half, Texas (8-7) pushed three runs across without the benefit of a hit. Three bases-loaded walks brought in the three runs.
Trevor Hansen drove in the second run of the game for the Jaspers with a single in the third. Durocher scored after doubling to center field. Ash, who singled, was thrown out at home on the Durocher double.
Durocher was involved with more action for the Jaspers. The outfielder drove in his second run of the afternoon with a double down the left-field line. That brought the Jaspers to within two, 6-4, in the sixth.
Ryan Galvan singled up the middle to score a pair in the bottom of the sixth to restore the four-run lead for the Longhorns. Texas added two more runs without a hit in the seventh.
Six Jaspers took the mound on Saturday. All pitched less than three innings.
Durocher finished the day 3-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Ash finished 2-5 with a pair of runs scored.
Frankie Marinelli,
Daniel Perez, and
Ryan Eaton all had multi-hit days.
The third and final game of the weekend series will start at 1 p.m. eastern on the Longhorn Network.
