BAKERSFIELD, CALIF – The Manhattan baseball team dropped both ends of Saturday's doubleheader at Cal State Bakersfield Saturday, with game one's final score being 15-4 while game two's score being 3-0.
Manhattan will continue to hunt for their first win of the season, falling to 0-5 while Bakersfield will improve to 6-1.
GAME ONE
The Roadrunners got an early jump on the Jaspers starter,
Tyler Fagler (0-2), tagging him up for six runs in the first and another three in the third inning.
While the Jaspers did put four runs on the board in the fourth inning, thanks to a sac-fly by
Jacob Radziewicz and a three-run shot by
Daniel Perez, his first of the year, that would be all the offense the Green and White could muster as Bakersfield brought five more home after that.
Jack Lynch smacked two doubles while
Alfredo Delgado added one.
Frankie Marinelli swiped his third bag of the year.
GAME TWO
Pete Durocher led off game two with a double down the left field line but was left stranded after being moved over to third by the way of a sac-bunt by Zahan Mayer.
Bakersfield added the only run they would need to take the win in the home half of the first inning, thanks to a sac-fly. The 'Runners added one more run in the fifth and sixth inning as insurance runs.
Durocher managed the Green and White's only two hits in game two.
The series wraps up tomorrow with another doubleheader, with first pitch of game one set to be thrown at 11 a.m.. eastern time.
