RIVERDALE, NY. - Manhattan women's basketball (4-2) defeated UMBC (1-7) 68-52 today at Draddy Gymnasium to give head coach
Heather Vulin her 100th career victory.
The Jaspers came out of the gates hot, soaring to an 11-point halftime lead thanks to
Ines Gimenez Monserrat's 13 points and five rebounds and
Nitzan Amar's 11 points and four rebounds. Manhattan shot 50 percent from the 3-point line and 50 percent from the free-throw line.
UMBC fell short in the first half shooting 36 percent from the field. Anna Blount led UMBC with six points and three rebounds in the first half.
The Jaspers were led by Amar who scored 18 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists. Gimenez Monserrat added a season-high 15 points off the bench along with six rebounds.
"We've trying to challenge our offensive execution and aggressiveness. We rebounded the ball really well," said
Vulin. "We did some nice things defensively for what we were trying to accomplish."
Manhattan will host Vermont on Saturday, December 9th at 12pm in another non-conference battle.
