FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Manhattan College men's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak in league play as they earned a 2-1 victory tonight at Fairfield.
"We learned a lot about ourselves tonight as a team and how connected we have to be when decisions go against us," said head coach
Jorden Scott. "We played for 30 minutes with a player down and found a togetherness and resilience that will only make us stronger. I'm proud of how far we have come and I'm excited about the journey ahead."
The scoring got started when
Sebastiano Musu shaked and baked the Fairfield defenders before passing the ball back to
Ayoub Boumelala. The forward placed the ball over the right side of the goalkeeper's head to give the Jaspers the 1-0 advantage in the 22nd minute.
Fairfield responded in the 39th minute to tie the match at 1-1 entering the half.
Coming out of the break the Jaspers moved the ball and applied the pressure.
Tony Yeboah raced down the left side of the field after a pass from Musu and connected with the net about 30 yards out to sink Manhattan's second goal on the night to retake the lead and score the game-winning goal.
Danny DiMarco earned the win in the net as the goalkeeper made four stops for Manhattan.
Fairfield fell to 3-7-1 overall and 0-4-1 in league play as it still looks for its first conference win.
Manhattan (5-4-2, 5-0-0 MAAC) stays on the road as it heads to Niagara this Saturday at 2 p.m. The Jaspers return home on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. versus Saint Peter's.
