Jaspers Hold on to Beat Siena

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan made it back-to-back wins with a 69-61 win over Siena on Monday inside Draddy Gymnasium.
 
After the first quarter, Manhattan (15-9, 10-5 MAAC) led 25-8 before seeing Siena (6-17, 6-9) cut the lead down to three in the fourth. The Jaspers answered by scoring nine of the final 13 points to seal the win.
 
The Jaspers trailed 4-2 before closing the opening 10 minutes on a 23-4 run. Manhattan shot 61-percent from the floor, and no player missed more than one shot in the first. Jenna Jordan had 10 points, and Courtney Warley nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.
 
Siena was held scoreless over the opening 2:30 of the second quarter, and Manhattan used a 10-0 run to take a 31-8 lead with 7:24 to play until halftime.
 
The Saints would rebound over the final seven-plus minutes of the second. The visitors held Manhattan to only one field goal over those seven-plus minutes and made it 37-26 at the half.
 
Siena then used a 9-2 run in the third and then a 13-4 run to start the fourth and cut the lead to three, 60-57. The Saints connected on three of their four made 3-points in the run. Margo Peterson bookended the run with triples.
 
Once the game got to three, the Manhattan defense limited the Saints to one field goal over the final 4:08 to secure the win.
 
Jordan finished with a game-high 19 points, which is a career-high as a Jasper. Warley finished with a double-double at 16 points and 19 rebounds—tied career-high. Dee Dee Davis finished with 14 points, and Brazil Harvey-Carr added 11.
 
Rayshel Brown finished with 18 points to lead Siena.
 
Manhattan hosts Canisius on Thursday at 7 p.m. inside Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers and Golden Griffins will air on ESPN+.
