RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan won its third straight and picked up its 10
th win at home after beating Canisius, 86-62, on Thursday night.
Four were in double figures for Manhattan (16-9, 11-5 MAAC), led by
Courtney Warley's 19 points.
The Jaspers scored 13 of the first 19 points of the game and did not let Canisius (4-21, 2-14) settle in. After the first, Manhattan led 22-10 by closing the quarter with seven straight points, with four coming from
Brazil Harvey-Carr. The run extended into the second when Manhattan scored seven of the first nine to lead 29-12 less than three minutes into the quarter.
Harvey-Carr scored 11 of her 18 in the first half. Warley tallied 13 of her 19 in the opening two stanzas. The graduate student went 4-6 from the field and 5-5 from the line.
Manhattan reeled off 11 of 14 points over three minutes to create a 19-point lead in the third. The Jasper lead would grow to as many as 27 in the final minute of the fourth.
The other two Jaspers in double figures were
Dee Dee Davis with 16 points, and
Jade Blagrove with 12.
Offensively, Manhattan shot 55-percent from the floor, which was a season-best. Four of the Jaspers five starters shot over 50-percent.
Manhattan limited Canisius to 33-percent shooting and only 9-30 from inside the 3-point line.
