No. 8 Manhattan To Open MAAC Championship Play At No. 1 Fairfield

Fairfield, CT 
- No. 8 Manhattan (12-22) will open play in the 2021 MAAC Championship at No. 1 Fairfield (33-1) at Alumni Diamond on Thursday, May 20 with an 11:00 am doubleheader in a best-of-three quarterfinal series.

With A Series Win ... the Jaspers will advance to next weekend's MAAC Tournament Championship to be held at the seed of the highest remaining team.

* Junior Jonathan Barditch hit a team-best .533 (8-of-15).
* Cimillo checked in with a .412 average (7-of-17), adding  a double, home run and six RBI.

MAAC Weekly Honors
* This year, Cimillo (Siena) claimed MAAC Pitcher of the Week honors, while Santos earned MAAC Rookie of the Week accolades.

This Year Against Fairfield ...
* The Jaspers hit .291 against the Stags with Cimillo hitting at a .462 clip (6-of-13) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI and four walks.
* Graduate Student Richie Barrella also batted .462 (6-of-13), while Franco (.375, 4XBH), Trochiano (.357, 4 RBI), Padre (.333, 2 RBI) and Knop (.308) all had solid weekends.

In The Rankings
* Franco leads the MAAC and is 21st nationally with 0.35 home runs per game, and is also fourth with a .705 slugging percentage.
* His nine home runs are second in the MAAC, while his 22 RBI are ninth and his .347 average 15th. 
* Cimillo and Knop are each tied for seventh with six home runs, while Padre leads the MAAC and is 100th nationally with 31 walks.
* Barrella's .341 average is 17th in the league.
* On the mound, graduate student RHP Logan Muratalla is sixth with 10.47 strikeouts per nine innings.

Series Wins 
* Manhattan earned series victories against Saint Peter's and at Siena thanks to some late-inning magic in both four-game sets. 
* The Jaspers scored four runs in their final at-bat to force extra innings of a an eventual game three win at Siena, before plating seven in the top of the sixth innings in the finale to overcome a three-run deficit.
* Trochiano provided the theatrics with a game-tying three-run shot in game three, before Franco crushed a two-run shot and Knop a three-run homer in a series-clinching victory.
* Manhattan clinched this past weekend's series victory against the Peacocks with a walk-off victory in this past Sunday's opener on a Knop sacrifice fly.

Coach Cole Quick Hits
* Head Coach Mike Cole has won 66 games, including 40 during MAAC play, in his four years at the helm of the Jaspers.
* In 2019, guided the Jaspers to a third-place finish at the MAAC Championship.
* Was an Assistant Coach on Manhattan's 2006 MAAC Championship team that defeated No. 6 Nebraska and San Francisco in finishing second at the Lincoln Regional.
