Manhattan Opens MAAC Play With Big Win At Canisius

Riverdale, NY – Manhattan ripped off three-straight goals to start the game and never looked back, en route to posting a 10-7 wire-to-wire victory over Canisius in the MAAC opener for each team at the Demske Sports Complex.

* The Jaspers are now 1-1 and 1-0 in the MAAC, while the Golden Griffins are 1-1 and 0-1 in the league.

* Graduate student Trevor Pelletier (Miami, FL / Gullivar Prep) opened the scoring off a feed from senior Sean MacKinney (Martinsville, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan).

* The duo again hooked up later in the first period to give the Jaspers a 4-1 advantage.

* Manhattan ripped off a game-clinching 4-0 run that bridged the second and third quarters, while pushing the Green & White lead to 8-2 at the 12:18 mark of the third.

* Junior Liam Walshe (Commack, NY / Commack) scored in each of the first three periods, while MacKinney finished with three assists and a goal to pace a Manhattan offense that saw seven players register points.

* Senior Brendan Krebs (East Williston, NY / Chaminade) was again outstanding in goal, turning away 14 shots while posting a .667 save percentage. 

* Graduate student Brandon Bank (Scarsdale, NY / Furman) collected a team-high five ground balls with two forced turnovers to pace the defense.

* Manhattan will host Detroit Mercy on Saturday, March 20, with opening faceoff slated for 7:00 pm.
