The visitors opened the scoring with a run in its first trip to the plate thanks to a pair of doubles, before Manhattan immediately answered with four-straight singles to produce two runs.

Graduate student Shawn Blake (Stratford, CT / Elon), freshman Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY / Suffern) and junior Alex Cerda (Miami, FL / Florida Christian School) all singled with one out, before freshman David Moffett (Oneida, NY / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Senior) delivered a two-run single to center.

The Jaspers added to their lead in their next trip to the plate with a big two-out hit, as Blake plated sophomore Jake Knop (Portland, ME / Portland) with a RBI triple to center.

The Red Foxes responded with three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-3 lead.

Manhattan fought back to take the game in the fourth as Knop led off with a single, before freshman Jonathan Barditch (Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit Prep) delivered a bunt single up the first base line. The runners would each move up on the play thanks to a throwing error and Blake took advantage with a sacrifice fly to tie it up at 4-4.

In the top of the fifth, Marist scored twice and took advantage of three Jasper errors in taking what would prove to be an insurmountable 6-4 lead.

Manhattan, however, would not go down without a fight, leaving the bases loaded in the fifth and the would-be tying the runs in the seventh.

Blake was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI and a walk while Padre and Barditch each added two hits to highlight a unit that rapped out 11 base knocks.

Junior RHP Nick Massa (Shrewsbury, NJ / Red Bank Regional) was solid in relief, firing 2.0 scoreless frames.

Frankie Gregoire and Tyler Kapuscinski each had two hits to lead the way for the visitors, while LHP Tony Romanelli (5-2) earned the win, striking out 10 over 5.0 innings while yielding four runs, three earned. RHP Ryan Cardona collected his second save, working 2.0 scoreless frames.

Game Two
In the nightcap, the Red Foxes scored seven times in the 10th inning en route to posting an 11-4 extra-inning win against the Jaspers.

Manhattan struck quickly for a run in its first trip to the plate as Blake belted a one-out double, before scoring on freshman Nick Cimillo's (Airmont, NY / Suffern) RBI single to center field.

Marist got that run back in the top of the second, but the damage could have been worse as senior RHP Ryan Takacs (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) left the bases loaded.

In the top of the fifth, the Red Foxes took a 2-1 lead thanks to a pass ball and appeared poised to add to the lead in the top of the seventh. With runners on the corners, Reese Armitage smoked a liner up the middle that struck the mound and deflected perfectly to freshman Jonathan Barditch (Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit Prep. The Sunshine State native tagged second base, before throwing to first to complete the double play while keeping a run off the board.

Manhattan then reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of runs. Barditch led off with a walk, before moving to second on a Sam Franco (Fr., Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) sacrifice. Blake followed with a RBI single, before Cimillo blasted a double off the wall to give the Jaspers a 3-2 lead.

In the top of the ninth inning, Randy Tavaras smacked a bases loaded, two-run single to stake Marist to a 4-3 advantage.

The Jaspers immediately responded with a run in the bottom part of the frame as Barditch led off up with a single on the 10th pitch of the at-bat. Blake then reached on an error and Cimillo was intentionally walked. Junior Dominic Palma (Hilton, NY / Hilton) was then plunked to force in Barditch.

Unfortunately, Manhattan left the bases loaded and Marist used a big 10th inning to capture the series.

Cimillo was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Blake finished up 2-for-5 with two runs to pace a 10-hit Jasper offense.

Takacs struck out six while yielding two runs, one earned, on four hits over 5.0 innings in earning the no-decision.

Tyler Kapuscinski went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI to lead the way for Marist, as RHP Nick Cantone (1-1) earned the win.
