Brooklyn Heights, NY - St. Francis Brooklyn posted a 72-56 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at the Pope Center.
Junior
Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) scored 17 points with four blocks to pace the Jaspers.
The Terriers were led by Glenn Sanabria, who finished up with 16 points and four assists.
In the opening half, St. Francis Brooklyn controlled the action for most of the stanza and led by as many as 10 points on a pair of occasions. Down but not out, the Jaspers roared back with 10-straight points to end the first in tying it up at intermission by a 28-28 count.
Â
Paulicap fueled the spurt with six of Manhattan's 10 points as the visitors needed just 2:31 to eradicate the deficit.
The reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Year continued his strong play to open the second half with a layup to give the Jaspers their first advantage of the game. Unfortunately, the Terriers immediately answered with a triple to reclaim the lead.
Manhattan would take its second lead of the game with 16:48 remaining on an
Elijah Buchanan (Fr., Bronx, NY / Woodstock Academy (CT)) free throw, only to see St. Francis Brooklyn again answer.
Unfortunately, that would be the last time that the Jaspers would lead as the Terriers used a game-ending 25-10 run over the final nine-plus minutes to break open a one-point game.
Paulicap's four rejections mark the 16th time in his career that the Harcum College transfer has rejected at least three in a game.
Manhattan shot 40.0 percent (18-of-45) from the floor, including 50.0 percent (11-of-20) in the first half, and 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the line while holding a 35-34 advantage on the glass.
The Jaspers fall to 2-10 in defeat while St. Francis Brooklyn improves to 8-5.
Manhattan will open MAAC play against Quinnipiac at Draddy Gymnasium on Thursday, January 3 with opening tip tabbed for 7:00 pm.
