Manhattan Hosts Siena At Gaelic Park On Wednesday

Riverdale, NY – Manhattan men's soccer (8-2 | 1-1 MAAC) aims to get back in the win column on Wednesday, October 3 when the Jaspers welcome Siena (3-4-3 | 2-0 MAAC) to the Bronx at 7:00 pm.
 
Fans who are unable to attend the match at Gaelic Park can watch the live stream of the game on the Jasper Sports Network. Live stats will also be available courtesy of the Manhattan athletic department.
 
Last Week...
The Jaspers ignited MAAC play and went 1-1, extending its winning streak to five games in a 1-0 victory over Monmouth on Wednesday, September 26 before falling to Saint Peter's 1-0 on Saturday, September 29.
 
Junior Noah Amissah found the back of the net in the 56th minute for the game-winner against the Hawks. Sophomore Berti Fourrier earned his team-leading fourth assist and 10th point on the play.
 
National Ranks
  • Manhattan continues to receive votes in the College Soccer News Top 30 National Poll after the team entered the top 30 last Monday.
  • The United Soccer Coaches has the Jaspers in the top 10 in the East Region Poll for the fifth consecutive week. Manhattan ranks sixth, ahead of Xavier, Memphis, Providence and Villanova.

  • In the first 10 games of the season, the Jaspers have totaled 18 goals, 51 points, 154 shots, 32 saves and five shutouts.
  • Those numbers are similar or close to the pace Manhattan set in 2017. The table below illustrates a few areas where Manhattan has improved upon from the previous year.

Conference Leaders
  • Manhattan leads the MAAC with just six goals allowed in 2018 and is second to Iona in goals, assists, points and shots.
  • Fourrier paces the conference with four helpers and 31 shots and is second with his 10 points.
  • Junior Adrien Awana and sophomore Brandon Joseph-Buadi are second in the conference at four goals on the season, while Awana is tied with Fairfield's Diego Casielles in game-winning tallies with three.
  • Gohier is first in shutouts (5), save percentage (.857) and goals-against average (.518) in the MAAC and is third amongst his conference counterparts in minutes played.
Back and Forth
  • This is the last extended homestand for Manhattan this season.
  • From this point forward, the Jaspers will alternate home and road games until the end of the regular season.
 
Scouting Report: Siena
  • The Saints are one of two teams that hold a 2-0 conference record after the first week of MAAC play as they defeated Niagara 2-1 and Monmouth 1-0 last week.
  • Siena's other win this year was over Sacred Heart, a 2-1 overtime victory in Loudonville, NY.
  • Freshman Aaron Martin has already secured three MAAC Rookie of the Week honors in 2018, including this week's distinction after a three-point effort in the last two games. He has three goals and two assists this season.
  • Greg Monroe has played a conference-high 959:42 minutes in goal for the Saints to the tune of a 1.50 goals-against average, compiling 50 saves for a .758 save percentage.
  • Last time these two teams faced one another, the Jaspers won 3-1 up at Siena Turf Field on October 21, 2017. Lorenzo Froehle, Troy Carrington and Lucas Da Silva all scored for Manhattan.
  • The Jaspers vie for their first win over the Saints at home since 2003.
