Box Score (PDF)

Poughkeepsie, NY –
Junior defender Angee Komano (Toulouse, France / Université Montpellier) netted his first goal as a member of the Jaspers, but the Red Foxes scored twice in the second half to beat Manhattan 2-1 on Saturday evening at Gaelic Park.

The Kelly Green and White fall to 3-3 against conference foes and now sport a 10-4 record. Marist remains atop the MAAC at 5-1 and 6-4-2 overall.

In the eighth minute, Manhattan earned a free kick in the left corner. Senior forward Lucas Da Silva (West Palm Beach, FL / Palm Beach Atlantic) fired the ball towards the net. After a few bounces in front, sophomore forward Brandon Joseph-Buadi (Brighton, England / Woodard) fed Komano, who went top-shelf over goalie Ryan Sinott.

Manhattan travels back down the Hudson River, hosting Iona in the penultimate home game of the regular season on Wendesday, October 17 at 7:00 pm.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Komano is the third defender to find the back of the net for the Jaspers, joining classmate Adrien Awana (Bordeaux, France / University of Bordeaux) and freshman Simon Busch (Duisburg, Germany / Theodor-Fliedner Gymnasium).
  • Joseph-Buadi is now the team leader with 12 points.
  • Manhattan's seven shots on goal are the second-most recorded in a MAAC affair this season and third-most overall.
  • Junior forward Noah Amissah (London, England / Orleans Park) led the squad with three shots. As a team, the Jaspers took 15 shots.
  • With Marist delivering only nine shots, Manhattan's defense has allowed double-digits shots to only one team in conference play.
  • Manhattan was not issued any yellow cards in the match.

FIRST HALF
  • Marist had a pair of shots blocked after the 16th minute.
  • Two minutes later, the Red Foxes earned a free kick 20 yards out. Bruce Jeter took the shot, and junior goalkeeper Marcellin Gohier (Nantes, France / CENS) corralled the ball for his first save.
  • Joseph-Buadi curved a 35-yard shot by a Marist defender and got it on goal, where Sinott saved it in the 34th minute.
  • With under nine minutes to play in the first half, junior captain Tristan Doran (Jupiter, FL / Benjamin) laced a 25-yard shot from the right sideline that Sinott lined up to catch.

SECOND HALF
  • After Amissah ripped a shot just outside the box that was saved in the 58th minute, Marist countered as Samad Bounthong's through-ball deflected off a Manhattan defender and right to a streaking Skylar Conway down the middle, who went left on Gohier to equalize the game at one.
  • In the 60th minute, Komano's attempt at a second goal was blocked at the top left corner of the box. Fifth-year forward Troy Carrington (Verona, NJ / Syracuse) gained the ball outside and whipped a ball towards the right post with Doran cutting in, but Sinott intercepted its trajectory.
  • After the Jaspers tried to clear off a Red Foxes corner kick, Marist's Juan Parada unleashed a sinking missile that had Gohier dive to his left in order to bat the ball away.
  • The Red Foxes took the lead for good in the 78th minute as Conway sent another through-ball down the middle for Bounthong, who sneaked past the back line and went one-on-one with Gohier. The netminder got his fingertips on it, but it wasn't enough.
  • Joseph-Buadi found some open space to line a frozen rope through traffic in the 84th minute, but Sinott had time to line it up to make the catch.
  • Manhattan's best chance in the final minutes came a minute later, as Manhattan crossed it into the box, but Awana's header attempt went wide left.
