RIVERDALE, NY – On Saturday afternoon, the Manhattan College men's and women's swimming & diving teams both recorded convincing victories in a dual meet against Marywood at the Ethical & Cultural Fieldston School.  The Jasper men won by a 97-70 count, while the women's squad earned a 94-81 triumph.

Neil Perry (Elkridge, MD) picked up a pair of individual wins in the 50 yard freestyle (21.83) and 100 yard freestyle (49.40).  He also anchored Manhattan's victorious 200 yard medley relay squad.  Another member of that medley relay, Rich Llewellyn (East Islip, NY) took first in the 200 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:48.51, and he picked up another first-place finish in the 200 yard butterfly (2:03.51), where he led a 1-2-3 showing for the Jaspers.

Manhattan also swept first and second place in both the 1000 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley.  In the 1000 freestyle, Evan Battisti (East Meadow, NY) earned the win in a time of 10:14.14 and Liam Ridge (Pearl River, NY) was second in 10:40.66.  Meanwhile, Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY) (2:02.94) and Tyler Dalton (East Stroudsburg, PA) (2:04.78) secured the top two places in the 200 IM.

“There were some very impressive swims for the men, helping them to an early lead,” Head Coach Joe Murtha said.  “We had some season-best times by a number of swimmers, which is something you always want to see as a coach as we progress through the year.”

Leading the way for the women's team was Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY), who had three first-place finishes.  Individually, she swam the 50 yard freestyle in 25.84 seconds to earn the win, and she followed that up with a victory in the 100 yard freestyle (57.13).  Nembach was also the anchor on the victorious 200 medley relay squad.  Sara Buckley (East Setauket, NY), meanwhile, was second the 50 freestyle (26.52) and third in the 100 freestyle (58.57).

Carolyn Crocker (Broad Channel, NY) (2:04.59) and Eileen Blood (Bridgewater, NJ) (2:06.31) went 1-2 in the 200 yard freestyle, while Yvonne Corcoran (West Boylston, MA) (11:45.50) and Samantha McNamara (Bethpage, NY) (12:25.67) finished first and third in the 1000 yard freestyle.  Also earning event wins, meanwhile, were Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY) in the 200 yard individual medley (2:17.85) and Cassandra Rubino (Thiells, NY) in the 200 yard butterfly (2:24.23).

“The women performed well, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back,” Murtha said.  “It was a very impressive day for the team.  They registered the fastest time in every event, while also showcasing the depth of this program in a number of events.”

Next Saturday, the Jaspers return to the Ethical & Cultural Fieldston School for a 1 p.m. matchup with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Saint Peter's.
