NEW YORK - With a pair of meets scheduled for the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center this weekend, the Manhattan College squad was split between the two competitions.  The Jaspers' field event athletes were in action on Friday afternoon, when they took part in the NYC Gotham Cup.

In the men's pole vault, Brian McGovern (Yonkers, N.Y.), who had the best mark of any collegiate athlete at the Armory last season, captured second place with a leap of 4.80 meters (15 feet, nine inches).  Savio Paul (Yonkers, N.Y.) took fourth with a 4.70 m (15'5) clearance, while Felix Siljeback-Larsen (Vasteras, Sweden) was sixth with a mark of 4.55 m (14'11).  It was a busy day for Siljeback-Larsen, who also placed third in the long jump (7.03 m, 23'0¾) and 20th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.65).

Rokas Kirlys (Kamaji, Lithuania) finished third in the men's shot put (15.32 m, 50'3¼), and Anastas Papazov (Balchik, Bulgaria) and Ian McGinnis (Philadelphia, Pa.) went 3-5 in the weight throw.  Papazov's best effort was 17.64 m (57'10½), while McGinnis had a top mark of 16.15 m (53'0).  In addition, Trevell Moxey (Lansdale, Pa.) earned fourth place in the men's triple jump (14.48 m, 47'6¼).

On the women's side, Alina Koenigs (Moenchengladbach, Germany) contested three events.  Her best finish was a fifth-place showing in the triple jump (10.88 m, 35'8½).  Also securing fifth place was Melissa Yap (Orchard Park, N.Y.) in the women's pole vault.  She cleared 3.35 m (10'11¾).  Additionally, Lydia Wehrli (Anieres, Switzerland) had a solid Manhattan debut in the women's weight throw, placing ninth overall (14.38 m, 47'2¼).

On Saturday, the remainder of the squad will return to the Armory for the NYRR Collegiate Invitational.  Competition begins at 6:30 p.m.
