Lewiston, N.Y. (October 28, 2007) ? Niagara scored a goal late in the game to top the Manhattan College men's soccer team 2-1. The Jaspers took 23 shots on the day and had 12 corner kicks.
After dominating the first half, the Jaspers took the lead five minutes into the second half when senior defender Daniel Cipriano headed in a corner taken by senior defender Adam Kiley. But Niagara evened the score in the 79th minute when Stephen Kauble latched onto a flick off of Matthew Durand from a free kick by Anthony DiBiase. Then the Purple Eagles went on top for good in the 86th minute when Joel Skinner turned and fired a shot in from 12 yards out off a Miles Patterson pass.
Both Manhattan (2-12-2, 0-6-1 in the MAAC) and Niagara (5-8-2 and 3-3-1 in the MAAC) had 23 shots during the game. Manhattan had 12 corner kicks on the day to Niagara's 6. Jasper keeper John Ciano had five saves.
The Jaspers now return home for their last two games of the regular season, Friday evening at 7 p.m. against Siena and Sunday at 10 a.m. against Marist. The Sunday game is Senior Day.
