BASEBALL DROPS 6-1 DECISION AT LAFAYETTE

Easton, Pa. (April 6, 2006)- Lafayette pushed across four runs in the fifth to down Manhattan, 6-1, this afternoon at Class of '78 Stadium. The Jaspers fall to 11-10 on the season.

Lafayette got on the board first, plating a run in the bottom of the first on a RBI double.

Manhattan evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the third. Ryan Marcoux singled, and advanced to second on a balk. Rene Ruiz moved Marcoux to third with a sacrifice bunt before Eric Nieto's RBI groundout plated Marcoux.

The Leopards would score once in the fourth before tallying four fifth inning runs to open up the lead.

Manhattan would threaten in both the sixth and seventh innings, loading the bases with two out in the sixth, and putting runners on second and third with two outs in the seventh, but could not come up with the big hit.

Rene Guerra took the loss for the Jaspers, working the first four innings. Brian Searls worked two innings before being lifted. Matt Nevins and Jeremy Shaw combined to allow just one hit while striking out four over the final two innings.
