Lawrenceville, NJ (May 2, 2004)-The men's Track & Field team won their seventh consecutive MAAC Outdoor Championship Title this weekend earning a total of 222 points at Rider University. Earning second place for the men were Rider University (157) and Iona College (137). The Lady Jaspers fell to second place only earning 257 points, 9.5 points behind the women's MAAC Champions Rider University. Taking third place in the women's competition was Iona with 137 points.
Thomas Jacob Freeman broke the MAAC record in the Hammer Throw throwing 67.78m and was awarded the most outstanding male athlete for field events. Coach
Dan Mecca received the men's outdoor coach of the year for the fourth consecutive year. Karin Larsson who won the Triple Jump (11.51m), Shot Put (13.77m), and High Jump (1.60m) was named the most outstanding female athlete in the field events. Larsson's throw in the Shot Put broke the MAAC record. Also breaking MAAC records was Jenna Daly in the Pole Vault (3.5m) and Therese Forsberg in the 1500m (4:35.02).
On the men's side,
Kurt Forsyth finished second in the 400m Dash (49.67). In the 800m,
Tyler Raymond finished second with a time of 1:52.80 just .76 seconds behind first place finisher Iona's Richard Kiplagat.
Rajne Svenssohn captured first place in the 110m Hurdles finishing in 15.28 seconds. The men's 4x400m Relay earned second in a time of 3:28.58 and the 4x100m Relay team grabbed second with an IC4a qualifying time of 42.41.
Christano Johnson captured the High Jump title with a jump of 1.99m. In the Pole Vault, Nils Petterson vaulted to first place after his vault of 4.40m.
Adeniyi Omisore was crowned Triple Jump Champion after his qualifying jump of 14.58m. Also, in the Triple Jump
Magnus Ahlen finished second after his jump of 14.13m.
Anders Constantin earned first place in the Shot Put with his throw of 14.99m. Following closely behind him was Jacob Freeman with a toss of 14.07m.
Zoran Loncar grabbed first place in the Discus with a toss of 45.98m.
Teresa Frierson captured first place in the 200m Dash (25.69) and the 400m (56.58) and took second place in the 100m Dash (12.96). In the 1500m, Lisa Naucler finished second in a time of 4:42.99. Forsberg also competed in the 3000m placing second with a time of 10:01.28. The women's 4x400m Relay Team took second finishing the relay in 4:00.41.
In field events, Karin Larsson earned second place in the Pole Vault after her vault of 2.90m and in the Discus (39.88m).
The Jaspers will compete again on Saturday, May 8 at the Princeton Invitational at 10 am.
