FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers softball team (5-21, 2-6 MAAC) succumbed to the Stags of Fairfield University (12-16, 6-0 MAAC) by a score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the home half of the first inning, Karissa Spring got in and out of trouble, with Fairfield's Camilleri lining out to third base after the Stags were threatening with a runner on third.
- Defensively, the Jaspers stood tall after the Stags threatened in the home half of the fifth, with a play featuring Fairfield's base-runner thrown out at the plate after being caught in a run-down to end the respective inning.
- Amid its deficit, the Green and White found its rhythm in the top half of the sixth inning, with Karissa Spring doing it on both sides, singling to right center to score Lindsey Hoag to put Manhattan on the board.
STATS AND NOTES
- Lindsey Hoag logged one hit and crossed the plate once in three plate appearances. Additionally, Hoag stole her ninth bag of the season.
- Karissa Spring recorded the Jaspers' lone run-batted in, in the series finale at Fairfield.
- Kalyn Markel etched the third hit for the Jaspers in three at-bats.
