Box Score

CHARLESTON, SC – The Manhattan Jaspers baseball team (1-6, 0-0 MAAC) put forth a valiant effort against the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern University (5-1, 0-0 Big South) but fell by a score of 15-4 in the final game of the three-game set on Sunday afternoon from Nielsen Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Kicking things off for the Jaspers was Aidan Taclas, who knocked a two-out base hit into left to get Manhattan in the hit column first.
  • Upon surrendering the first run to the Buccaneers, starting pitcher Joseph Duffield got in and out of a jam by striking out Charleston Southern's Mcaskie, followed by jamming Martinez to groundout to Guriyandel Salva to end the inning.
  • The Jaspers took its first lead of the game with a two-run blast from Trevor Hansen, with Colin Basehore on second and drive in the pair.
  • Back-to-back pitching errors for Charleston Southern cut the Jaspers' deficit in half, with a balk and wild pitch, respectively, bringing home Dylan Mayer and Taclas in the fourth inning.
  • In relief, graduate transfer Joey Craska landed in and got himself out of trouble, allowing three hits and stranding a pair along the base path. Craska followed up with a one-two-three inning to close out the sixth in style.

STATS AND NOTES

  • Junior Trevor Hansen hammered his 16th career home run of his career and first of the 2025 campaign. Hansen also swiped one bag on the afternoon.
  • Aidan Taclas added a base hit and a stolen base in three total plate appearances.
