Davis, Amar Net Double-Figures; Women’s Basketball Falls to Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers women's basketball team (12-13, 6-10 MAAC) fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats (22-3, 14-2 MAAC) by a score of 60-40 inside M&T Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The loss puts Manhattan tied for the ninth spot in the MAAC table with its next opponent, Canisius, just two and a half weeks out of the 2025 Hercules Tire MAAC Basketball Championships in Atlantic City.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After Quinnipiac's Anna Foley opened the scoring, graduate forward Ines Gimenez Monserrat tied the game up with a bucket underneath on a second-chance attempt after capturing her own rebound following the initial miss.
  • Senior guard Nitzan Amar countered with a trey after the Bobcats went in front from distance.
  • Sophomore guard Tegan Young, who found Kristina Juric underneath, broke up a seven-to-none run for Quinnipiac.
  • The Jaspers narrowed its deficit more with junior guard Brianna Davis getting on the board with her first points from distance.
  • Manhattan went in front to open the second quarter with Amar's second three-pointer and give the Jaspers its first lead of the game.
  • Davis sank a key jump shot to break up a 21-5 run, which spanned for roughly ten minutes back into the second quarter.
  • Sophomore guard Tegan Young temporarily stopped the pressure from the Bobcats with her fourth and fifth points of the game to narrow the deficit ever so slightly.
  • Later in the fourth quarter, Davis continued her comeback tour for the Jaspers, scoring a bucket and drawing a foul to propel her personal point total to double-digits on the afternoon.
