CHARLESTON, SC – The Manhattan Jaspers baseball team (1-4, 0-0 MAAC) fell to the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern University (4-1, 0-0 Big South) by a score of 15-2 in the series opener on Friday afternoon from Nielsen Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Manhattan opened the game with Ryan Lordier, who earned a crucial walk and swiped second base to land in scoring position.
- After putting up multiple runs in the home half of the first, relief pitcher Andrew Brown came in and struck out the Buccaneers' Edgmon, looking for a crucial first out.
- The Jaspers' Andreaus Lewis smashed a lead-off round-tripper into right-center field to narrow its deficit to five runs.
- Aidan Katzman opened the third inning with an infield single. Two batters later, Aidan Taclas grounded out to first but brought home Katzman from third to record an RBI.
- Brown returned for the third inning and recorded a swinging strikeout to open the home half while striking out the Buccaneers' Martinez two batters later.
- In the sixth inning in relief, Jackson Klein struck out the final two batters swinging and looking, respectively.

- Senior catcher Andreaus Lewis hammered his first round-tripper of the season and fifth of his NCAA career.
