Riverdale, NY – The Jaspers had victory on their minds when Maddie Feller's header in the 58th minute found the back of the net on a corner kick from Sami Derrico. But Sacred Heart remained on the hunt and found the equalizer in the 65th minute on a goal from Shea Kelleher that was assisted by Lindsay McShea. With 2 seconds left, Amaya Hill had one last chance for the Jaspers but her shot from inside the box was stopped by Sacred Heart goalie Lauren Calabro, thus solidifying the 1-1 scoreline.
Neither team was able to find much offensive consistency in a game that featured grueling physicality. A few late tackles yielded a total of 3 yellow cards—2 on Manhattan and 1 on Sacred Heart—but both teams struggled to take advantage of set piece opportunities outside of the corner kick that facilitated Feller's goal.
Overall, Sacred Heart outshot Manhattan, 11-9, and were effective at limiting any rhythm for Manhattan in the possession game. Nevertheless, the Jaspers walk away with their first point in MAAC play.
