Manhattan hits the road to face No. 11 Penn

Riverdale, NY — The Jaspers will surface in the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday ahead of their match-up with Penn at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ from Rhodes Field. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

-The Jaspers and Quakers are set to meet for the first time ever in men's soccer. Next season, Penn will make the trip to Gaelic Park. 

-Manhattan is fresh off a 2-2 tie at Fordham on Monday. The Jaspers received goals from Ziv Dahan in the 13th minute and Ronan O'Brien in the 36th minute for the first goal of his career. The result was the first tie in the Battle of the Bronx since the scoreless draw back in 2016.

--Dahan enters the match-up as Manhattan's leading scorer with 3 goals this season. The sophomore striker also has an assist to his name in 2024.

-Penn will be the third ranked opponent Manhattan faces this season, following match-ups with No. 25 Seton Hall and No. 18 Fordham. This week the Quakers moved up to No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll released by the NCAA, having improved 4 spots from 15. Seton Hall has moved up to No. 8. 

-Penn is led by senior forward Stas Korzeniowski who has 4 goals on the season. Senior midfielder Charlie Gaffney paces the Quakers in assists with 3, having recorded the trio of helpers in only 66 minutes of action in the 4-0 win over Temple on 9/6. In net, Penn is guided by sophomore goalkeeper Phillip Falcon III, who has been named Ivy Defensive Player of the Week for the third straight week. Penn's +7 goal differential is tied for 29th in the country. 

-Penn represents the first Ivy League team besides Columbia to appear on Manhattan's schedule since 2014. That season, Manhattan tied Yale, 0-0, and lost to Harvard, 3-0.
