RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Head Coach Dave Miller and the Manhattan baseball team are packed and ready to take on Gardner-Webb this week in Boiling Springs, N.C.

The Friday-Sunday four-game series will take place at Bill Masters Field at John Henry Moss Stadium. The four-game series starts of Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 4 p.m., and a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. Game one of Sunday's doubleheader will be seven innings followed by game two which will be nine innings.

This weekend will be the first time the Jaspers and Gardner-Webb will face each other in school history.

The Opponent
Gardner-Webb is 2-9 to start the season with wins over Appalachian State and Quinnipiac. They enter the week having lost the last five games. Tommy Tavarez has 15 hits, 4 homers, 8 RBI to lead Garner-Webb. Connor Maggi was 12 strikeouts on the mound to lead all players.

Manhattan (4-5) heads into the weekend, having dropped game 3 of its series at Marshall. Outfielder Trevor Hansen has collected 12 hits, including four doubles, 4 runs scored, one home run, and 7 RBIs on the week.Â

Noah Mattera leads Manhattan with two wins under his belt. The grad student has pitched 12.1 innings. Michael Staiano and Justin Solimine have the other two wins for the Jaspers.

Non-Conference Outlook
Manhattan is 4-5 in non-conference play after three weekends. The Jaspers have 28 games slated against non-conference opponents this season. Manhattan does not play at home until March 22 when it hosts Mount St. Mary's.

A Look Back
Manhattan finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 22-34, including a MAAC postseason win. Last year, Manhattan won 12 road games and one neutral match-up.

Preseason Nods
Graduate student Frankie Marinelli was named to the All-MAAC Preseason Team as a utility player. He appeared and started in 54 games. He batted .311, recorded 65 hits, crossed home 53 times, registered nine doubles, one home run, 30 RBI and a team-leading 47 walks to go along with 23 stolen bases. In the MAAC Preseason Polls that were also released, the Jaspers were picked to finish fifth with one first-place vote.
