Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College men's basketball team took on the Rider Broncs today at Draddy Gymnasium, falling by a score of 104-62.
Manhattan (5-19, 2-13 MAAC) was led by Jaden Winston who scored 15 points. Daniel Rouzan added 14 points, while Shaquil Bender added 13 for the Jaspers.
Rider (10-16, 7-8 MAAC) was led by Mervin James who scored 21 points, and dished out five assists. Allen Powell scored 15 points and seven assists for the Broncs.
Rider came out of the gates firing, storming to a commanding 23-5 lead. The Jaspers were able to cut the lead down to 26-14, but could not continue to gain momentum, as Rider would proceed to extend their lead once again up to a half high 24 points margin, leading 50-26 over the Jaspers at the break.
The second half would be more of the same as the Jaspers were never able to swing things in their favor. Manhattan tried to apply full court pressure early in the half, but could never get the deficit back below 20. Rider seemed to not be able to miss, setting a program all-time high in field goal percentage. The Jaspers would eventually fall 104-62.
Manhattan shot 34.9% from the floor and 36% from three-point. They recorded 26 points in the paint and 22 bench points.Â
Rider shot 77.8% from the floor and 73.3% from three-point. They recorded 48 points in the paint and 42 bench points.
The Jaspers next take the court on Friday, February 23rd, when remaining home to take on Marist at 7 p.m. in Riverdale.
