Women's Basketball Falls at Siena, 74-51

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Manhattan women's basketball falls short to Siena College, 74-51 in the MVP Arena on a Friday night snapping a five-game win streak.

"Tough road loss against a very good Siena team.  I felt we played undisciplined and we need to take ownership over that," head coach Heather Vulin. "It was great having Petra (Jurich) back in the lineup with a hard fought double-double."

The Jaspers (14-5, 7-4 MAAC) were led in scoring by Juric who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Anne Bair and Ines Gimenez Monserrat added 10 points apiece.

Siena (10-9 6-3 MAAC) was led by Ahniysha Jackson and Elisa Mevius who both scored 16 points. Teresa Seppala added 10 points.

The Jaspers kicked off the game strongly, securing an 8-6 lead in the first quarter. However, Siena made a comeback, making shots to overtake Manhattan and claim a 20-14 lead, as the Jaspers struggled from the field. Siena continued to build on its momentum in the second quarter, making a three-pointer that brought the score to 26-18, establishing an 8-point lead. As halftime approached, Siena maintained its dominance, heading into the break with an 11-point advantage, 33-22.

In the third quarter, Juric made back-to-back shots narrowing the 5-point deficit to 38-33. Despite her efforts, Siena quickly regained control, restoring a double-digit lead. Siena dominated in the fourth quarter, hitting all three of its three-point attempts and shooting over 60% from the field, securing a home victory.

Manhattan shot 32.2% from the floor and 18.8% from three-point. They scored 28 points in the paint and nine bench points.

Siena shot 48.4% from the floor and 41.2% from three-point. They recorded 40 points in the paint and 19 bench points.

Manhattan will return home to host Mount Saint Mary's on Saturday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
