RIVERDALE, NY– The Manhattan Women's Track and Field program launched its 2024-25 campaign on Saturday late afternoon at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island and the Crowell Open, hosted by Army West Point.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Makayla Dorvil placed seventh in the Women's 60-meter Hurdles with a time of 9.45 in the first heat.
- Freshman Tranira Booker kickstarted her NCAA career with a seventh-place overall result in the Women's 60-meter dash by logging a time of 7.87 in the second heat. Tranira placed second in the second section behind Towson's Nancy Hudson.
- Senior Martina Martinez placed seventh in the Women's 400-meter dash with a time of 59.23 in the third section. Freshman Ellianne Fernandez registered a time of 59.42, just behind Martinez in eighth place. The two were a pair of just nine to log times less than one minute.
- Fernandez placed 11th in the Women's 200-meter dash with a time of 26.23. Booker placed right behind her teammate by just .12 seconds, with a mark of 26.35.
- Freshman Victoria Baker registered a mark of 1.55m in the Women's High Jump. She was tied with Fordham senior Anya Alfonsetti-Tery and St. John's sophomore Ruth Smith.
- Senior Alexandra Caraher placed seventh in the Women's Weight Throw with a result of 16.44 in West Point.
- Freshman Mikaella Martin placed third in the Women's Mile with a time of 5:12.57 in the third position.
- Sophomore Bailee Christofis logged a second-place finish in the Women's 3000m with a time of 10:29.82 in the sixth lane.

"I am really happy with how both programs opened up. We split the squad and tackled two meets this weekend. We saw a couple of personal bests and many of our athletes who had their best season openers. There will be a lot to look forward to this season!" said head coach Kerri Inman.
