New Rochelle — Manhattan went down early and found a way to tie the match before Iona secured the game-winning goal in the 35th minute to seal a 2-1 victory at Mazzella Field. Sebastiano Musu scored his fifth goal of the season on a header that was assisted by Ensa Sanneh in the 34th minute.
Manhattan applied enough pressure on the Gaels, tallying 12 shots and eight corner kicks, but didn't have enough in their bag to tie the scoreline for the second time. Ludvig Malberg recorded four saves in the loss.
Manhattan has the sixth spot in the standings for now, and can all but guarantee an invitation to the playoffs with a win over seventh-place Sacred Heart. If other results around the league include a Saint Peter's loss or tie on Wednesday, and a winning outcome in the Fairfield and Quinnipiac game that same day, then Manhattan will be in the playoffs no matter the result at Sacred Heart.
Heading into Wednesday's match at Sacred Heart, the Jaspers hold the tie-breaker advantage on the Pioneers in goal differential; Manhattan at +3 and Sacred Heart at +1.
