Emmitsburg, MD — Manhattan faced little resistance moving the ball into Mount St. Mary's territory, but in the end both teams played to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium on the campus of the Mount. By securing the tie, Manhattan earned their fifth point of the MAAC season through 4 conference games.
Manhattan dominated the action in the second half and especially ramped up their pressure over the final 15 minutes of the second half. In the 84th minute, Olivia McMaster popped a shot that was saved by Mount goalkeeper Adelaide Paredes. Then, with 37 seconds left, Amaya Hill received possession of the ball at the top of the box but her ensuing shot sailed over.
The Jaspers' incessant pressure yielded a 22-4 shots advantage, including a 15-1 margin over the final 45 minutes. Manhattan also earned a staggering 15 corner kicks on the day while the Mountaineers were held to 1 by the Manhattan defense.
Manhattan directed 9 shots on goal to the Mountaineers' 1 shot on target. Sami Derrico, Arancha Antunes, Julia Nicholas and McMaster each registered 2 shots on net.
Behind her stout defensive line, Molly Brunk only needed to make 1 save over the course of the 90 minutes. The sophomore goalie is now tied with Canisius goalie Jordan Spencer for the MAAC lead 6 shutouts.
This was only the third match-up all-time between the Jaspers and Mountaineers. Manhattan took a 1-0 decision at home last year while both teams tied 1-1 in Emmitsburg in 2022.

Manhattan will look to get back in the win column when they host Fairfield (8-1-1, 3-0-1 MAAC) on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m. The Jaspers will celebrate Neurodiversity Awareness in support of those with intellectual disabilities.
