RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's basketball team (14-4, 7-2 MAAC) will travel to Loudonville, NY, and play Siena College this Thursday. Manhattan will host Mount St. Mary's this Saturday at 2 p.m. for International Day/Flag Day.
The Preview: Last time out, Manhattan faced Siena on Jan 4, 2024, Field Trip Day, with the Jaspers winning, 60-53. Manhattan played Mount St. Mary's on Feb. 25, 2023, coming away with a 52-45 victory.
The Opponent: Siena (9-8, 5-3 MAAC) is on a three-game winning streak. The Saints won their last game against Quinnipiac, 78-60. The Saints were led in scoring by Ahniysha Jackson, who had 20 points and six rebounds. Mount St. Mary's (6-12, 3-6 MAAC) lost its last game against Niagara, 80-63. Jada Lee finished with 14 points and five rebounds.
Leading the Way: Leading the Jaspers in their last outing was Leyla Ozturk, who recorded 19 points and six rebounds. Ines Gimenez Monserrat added 16 points, while Niztan Amar added 12 for Manhattan.
By the Numbers: Manhattan enters the week ranked second in the MAAC, including a five-game win streak. Statistically, the Jaspers are 52nd in the NCAA and first in the MAAC in scoring defense at 52.6 points per game, sixth in fouls per game (12.7) and free throw percentage (78.0). The Jaspers also rank first in the MAAC in blocked shots per game at 3.8.
