Men’s Hoops Set to Face No. 1 Quinnipiac and No. 3 Fairfield in MAAC Play

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's basketball team (5-13, 2-7 MAAC) will host Quinnipiac University this Friday at Draddy Gymnasium. Manhattan will then play Fairfield University for a tip-off at Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Sunday. 

Game Info: Tip-off against Quinnipiac (16-4, 8-1 MAAC) is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. The Fairfield (12-8, 6-3 MAAC) game is set for 2 p.m. The games will be televised on ESPN+ and MAAC.TV (for international viewers). 

The Opponent: Quinnipiac is on a seven-game winning streak, as it won its last game against No.1 Fairfield, 66-64. Matt Balanc had 13 points and three rebounds for the Bobcats in the victory. Quinnipiac enters the week ranked 1st in the MAAC standings.

Fairfield lost its last game to Quinnipiac, 66-64. Caleb Fields and Jalen Leach led the Stags with 18 points each. Fairfield is ranked 3rd in the MAAC standings.

Series Info: Last time out, Manhattan faced Quinnipiac University on Jan. 7, 2024, with the Jaspers falling short, 76-59. Manhattan played Fairfield on Jan. 21, 2024, with the Jaspers falling short 82-75.

The Preview: Manhattan was led by Daniel Rouzan, who recorded a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Jaden Winston and Shaquil Bender added 16 points apiece for the Jaspers in a victory against Niagara. Bender leads the overall scoring effort for Manhattan at 13.6 points per game. 

By the Numbers: Rookie Seydou Traore ranks 15th in the NCAA in defensive rebounds (7.3). - the top freshman in the nation in the category. 

What's Ahead: The Jaspers will travel to Maryland and play Mount St. Mary's on Feb, 8. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m at Kaplan Center Gym.
