Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan's two-game winning streak came to an end tonight at Draddy as they fell to Rider, losing the match 3-1. The final set scores were 29-27, 16-25, 17-25, and 15-25.
The Jaspers dominated the Broncs in the first set of the match, beating them 29-27. The Jaspers scored the first point of the set; however, the Broncs answered back with a four-point run to put themselves up by two. As the set progressed, the Jaspers and Broncs began to go kill for kill, keeping the score within one or two points for most of the set. When both teams reached the regulation 25 points, the Jaspers were able to score a quick point after a kill by
Maike Bertens to win the set.
However, the following three sets would go in favor of the Broncs. After giving their all to win the first set, the Jaspers were unable to keep up with the Broncs, losing each set by more than eight points.
Bertens and
Mikalah Curran both led the Jaspers in kills, each tallying 14 and 10, respectively.
Sarah Emmons contributed with 30 assists.
Manhattan will play again on Wednesday, September 20th, at 7:00 p.m. against the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J.
