RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The wait is finally over for fans of Manhattan baseball, after the Jaspers midweek trip to Stony Brook, the Jaspers will take to the diamond at Clover Stadium for a weekend series with the Fairfield Stags, which kicks off on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The midweek meeting with the Seawolves will be broadcast on FloBaseball while the home series against Fairfield will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Manhattan enters the week following a 2-2 week which was highlighted by a 2-1 series victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks to open the 2023 MAAC schedule.
Will Hesslink turned in his best outing of the season in the series opener on Friday, tossing seven innings while only yielding one run and sitting 12 down on strikes.
The Seawolves enter Tuesday's game with a 10-15 mark overall. Last week, Stony Brook posted a 2-2 record, taking down MAAC member Iona 12-2 to open the week but dropping its weekend series against Hofstra, 2-1. Evan Giordano has been the offensive spark for the Seawolves, batting an impressive .375 while bringing around 33 runs and clubbing six long balls.
As for the Stags, they also opened MAAC play in the same vein as the Green and White, winning their opening series 2-1 against Mount St Mary's. Offensively, the Stags are led by Mike Becchetti who's bat has been on fire all year. He enters the week with an impressive average of 400 while belting seven long balls and 26 RBI. Charlie Pagliarini has also started the season strong at the plate, batting .398 with 10 home runs.
