RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan men's lacrosse team scored four goals in the fourth quarter but could not catch up to Siena's lead, dropping the senior day match 10-6.
The seniors honored today were
Lukas Adams,
Kyle Gucwa,
Kevin Jaffe,
Christian Lyons,
James McCoy,
Nikolus Nickerson,
Joseph Persico,
Matthew Scully,
Jack Shanley, and
Peter Vrankovic.
The Jaspers fell behind early, with the first quarter ending in a 2-0 lead for the Saints, who scored two early goals in the quarter.
Siena remained in control for the entirety of the first half, scoring four more goals and holding Manhattan to only one in the first half. The Jaspers' offense couldn't get anything going until late in the fourth quarter, scoring four straight goals and outscoring the Saints 4-2.
The Jaspers started scoring in the fourth, with the first goal coming unassisted at 10:55 by Gucwa. The Jaspers then scored two quick goals in under two minutes, bringing the score to 10-5. The final goal of the quarter came from
Drew Hiner, hitting the back of the Saint's net with just 34 seconds left of play. Despite the Jaspers' offensive push in the fourth quarter, they could not catch up to the Saints.
Gucwa's goal extended his point streak to 43 games. The Jaspers had a well-balanced offense this afternoon, with six different Jaspers scoring goals.
Christian Watts and Pratt Reynolds had hat tricks for the Saints.
Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, April 22, for its final regular season game against Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y., at 6 p.m.
