ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Manhattan's season came to an end in the First Round of the MAAC Tournament with a 61-50 loss to Marist.
Manhattan (12-18) cut a 20-point second-half deficit to four twice but could not get closer to Marist (11-19). The Jaspers made it 48-44 with 4:42 to play and 50-46 with 3:24 left.
The Jaspers went on an 11-0 run in the second half to get within 48-44.
Ant Nelson scored nine of the 11 points for the Jaspers.
Marques Watson answered two Patrick Gardner free throws to make it 50-46.
Josh Roberts scored 11 of the first 16 points for the Jaspers to start the second half and the comeback attempt. Roberts finished the night with his sixth double-double of the season, recording 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Marist built its lead in the first half when it held Manhattan scoreless over the final six minutes and went on a 20-3 run to build a 36-17 lead at the half.
Nelson finished the night with a team-high 15 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Gardner led Marist with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds.
