BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Baseball team suffered a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the LIU Sharks Thursday afternoon.
Manhattan will keep its eyes forward on their MAAC opener, which is a three-game series with the Saint Peter's Peacocks which begins this Friday in Jersey City.
The first runs of the game belonged to the good guys.
Daniel Perez continues to impress this season, smacking a 2 RBI triple in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. Perez went the final 90 feet thanks to a
Pete Durocher single to make the score 3-0. LIU cut the lead to 3-1 thanks to a sac fly in their half of the third.
The two teams traded runs in the fourth, with
Alfredo Delgado starting to find his grove in the batter's box thanks to an RBI single. LIU responded with a solo shot off the bat of JC Navvaro. The game was knotted up at 4-4 thanks to a 2-run blast for the Shark's Jack Powers.
Powers and Navarro each delivered RBIs in the seventh inning to earn the victory.
