TEANECK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson took both doubleheader games against Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon.
It was the first meeting between the two programs since 2017.
Game 1: Fairleigh Dickinson 9, Manhattan 1 (5 innings)
Fairleigh Dickinson's Cassidy Triska led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot, and the Knights added runs in the second and third innings to lead 4-0 after three.
The Knights hit four homers in the game.
Manhattan got one back in the top of the fourth.
Kaitlyn Flood doubled to lead off the inning. The second baseman came home on a
Maddy Weir double to left field. Weir's RBI was the fifth of the season for the first-year Jasper.
The Knights struck four in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 8-1. Hayden Salter brought home the first two runs of the inning with a two-run homer to right. Courtney Mahoney capped the inning three batters later with another two-run home run, this one to right-center.
Savannah Thornell supplied the final homer, a solo shot in the fifth to pick up the run-rule win.
Flood was the lone Jasper to have multiple hits. Alayna Savaglio tossed a complete game for the Knights while striking out five.
Game 2: Fairleigh Dickinson 5, Manhattan 1
In game two, Manhattan was limited to four hits and only had one baserunner through the first four innings.
All of Fairleigh Dickinson's scoring came in the third and fourth innings.
Courtney Mahoney started the scoring with an RBI single. Mahoney would later score on a two-RBI single from Megan Berg. In the fourth, three straight extra-base hits pushed two runs across. Cassidy Triska doubled, Mahoney followed with a triple, and Andreya Flores doubled to make it 5-0 Knights.
Marika Deemer drove in the lone Jasper run in the sixth. Flood scored on the hit after getting on via an infield single and moving to second on a stolen base. Flood's single extended her hitting streak to six games.
Malori Bell tossed a complete game for the Knights, allowing only four hits and striking out three.
The Jaspers are off until Sunday, when they travel to Siena to open MAAC play with a doubleheader starting at noon.
