Two MAAC Clashes Await Manhattan This Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan men's lacrosse faces a pair of MAAC foes this week, with Quinnipiac on Wednesday and Marist on Saturday.
 
The Jaspers visit Quinnipiac on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and host Marist at noon on Saturday. Manhattan is looking to win its second straight against Quinnipiac and Marist. The Jaspers beat Marist in the semifinals of last season's MAAC Tournament.
 
Manhattan (6-2) moved to 3-0 in MAAC play with a 14-9 win over Canisius on Saturday. Kelly DuPree paced the offense with four goals and an assist. Liam McDonough won 14 faceoffs, collected 10 groundballs, and added an assist. Joseph Persico made seven stops.
 
DuPree and McDonough earned MAAC Offensive and Faceoff Player Week honors for their performances against the Golden Griffins.
 
Quinnipiac (4-3, 2-1 MAAC) is coming off a 14-12 win over Marist on Saturday. Dylan Donery and John DeLucia had hat tricks for the Bobcats on Saturday. DeLucia paces Quinnipiac in goals (17) and points (27) and shares the team lead in assists (10).
 
Marist will host Sacred Heart on Wednesday night before coming to Riverdale on Saturday. The Red Foxes (2-6, 1-2) have lost two in a row to Canisius and Quinnipiac. Jojo Pirreca had a hat trick to lead the offense against Quinnipiac. Pirreca leads the team in goals (20) and points (27) so far this season.
 
Defensively, the Jaspers are second nationally in scoring defense (8.25) and man-down defense (.864). The Jaspers lead the MAAC in both of those categories too.
 
Individually, Joseph Persico leads the MAAC in GAA (8.26) and save percentage (.598). Nationally, Persico is second in GAA and third in save percentage.
 
Kyle Gucwa is third in the MAAC in points per game (3.62), assists per game (1.62), and man-up goals (4).
