Jaspers Look to Continue Strong Play On the Road This Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Following a 2-0 week which allowed the Manhattan women's basketball team to move up one spot in the MAAC standings, the team will look to continue their strong play and ascent up the standings with a pair of road contests this week.

Thursday's game at Siena will be on ESPN+, while live stats can be found HERE. Fans wishing to take the trip up to Loudonville may purchase tickets HERE. ESPN3 will carry Saturday's game at Rider, and live stats can be found HERE, and tickets are available HERE.

Last week, the Jaspers' defense came to play, stifling their opponent's offenses and holding Fairfield and Saint Peter's under 50 points. The team only yielded 46 to the Stags while dominating the glass, 53-44 and 23-14 on the offensive glass. As for the Peacocks, they only managed 44 points while committing 28 turnovers, 13 of which were steals by the Jaspers.

The week opens with the Jaspers headed up to Empire State's capital for their second meeting with the Siena Saints. The second game of the week features a departure from the standard schedule structure, with the second game always being played on a Saturday. The Jaspers will compete on Sunday at Rider for the season's first meeting this season.

The Jaspers will catch the Saints following an overtime loss at the hands of Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, 77-75. The Mount used free throws in the final 10 seconds to escape with the win. The last time Manhattan saw Siena was in Draddy Gym for the team's kids' day, emerging victorious 78-53. During that game, Dee Dee Davis had a career day, posting an impressive 37 points while hauling 11 rebounds. Twenty-eight of her 37 came in the first half alone while also outscoring the entirety of the Saint's offense in the opening quarter, 17-12.

Siena is currently sporting a record of 14-9 overall and a league mark of 8-5. The Saint's offensive attack is led by Anajah Brown and Teresa Seppala, who both contribute 11 points per tilt and lead the team on the glass, hauling in 7.8 and 6.8 boards, respectively.

On Sunday, Manhattan will make the trip to Lawrenceville, N.J., for a 1 p.m. tipoff against Rider (5-17, 2-11 MAAC). Like Saint Peter's last week, despite being in the heart of the conference schedule, this will be the first meeting between the two teams this season. Before the two teams share the court, Rider will take on Marist on Thursday while looking to snap its six-game losing streak.

Rider's offensive attack is powered by Mikayala Firebaugh, registering 13.3 points per tilt while hauling in 4.4 boards. The Broncs' other player averaging double-figures is Raphaela Toussaint, who is notching 11.5 points a game.
