Davis Continues Ascent up the Scoring List in Setback Against Marist

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Dee Dee Davis continued her rise up the scoring list, moving up to No. 7 on the Jaspers all-time list in a 75-66 defeat at the hands of Marist at Draddy Gym

Manhattan falls to 10-15 and 7-9 in league play while Marist improves to 11-13 and 7-9 in the MAAC.

"I was dissappointed in our team defensive effort," said head coach Heather Vulin. "We gave them too many good looks and Marist did a great job on capitalizing on them."

The first field goal of the game was a historic one for Davis. She connected on a triple to move into the No. 8 spot, passing Monica Roeder.

Using that triple as a springboard, Manhattan hopped out to an 11-2 lead, forcing the Red Foxes into a timeout to stop the building momentum. The quarter would close with Manhattan owning a 15-10 lead.

Marist made their move in the second quarter, using an 11-3 run which was kicked off by a layup by Samantha Bailey to take a 21-18 lead. It was a lead that Marist would not relinquish for the rest of the game. The Red Foxes took a slim lead into the locker room, 29-27.

Marist extended the lead also immediately coming out of halftime. While Davis did connect on a jumper, Marist responded with a 10-0 run that spanned just over three minutes to take a double-digit lead.

Manhattan showed life at the end of the third quarter. Scoring on its final two trips down the court, including a turnaround from Jade Blagrove in the final seconds to close the lead to 11 heading into the final 10 minutes, 51-40.

The life that the Jaspers showed in the final minute carried over to the fourth quarter, but the Red Foxes had an answer for every Jasper bucket.

Both triples Davis connected on were historic, with the second one coming in the final minute putting her at 1,400 career points, passing Caitlin Flood, putting Davis in seventh place.

Davis finished the game with 21 points while Brazil Harvey-Carr posted 14 for Manhattan.

Marist was led by Zaria Shazer who dropped a game-high 22 points and Kiara Fisher added 19.

The Jaspers return to action on Saturday with a short trip to Jersey City for a meeting with the Saint Peter's Peacocks.
