The Manhattan women's soccer team returns home to Gaelic Park on Wednesday, October 11, to continue MAAC play in an evening contest against Fairfield.Â
The Path: The Jaspers are coming off of a 2-1 defeat at Rider. Prior to that, Manhattan took a 2-1 victory at Iona. Manhattan is now 3-5-3 overall, and 2-2-2 in conference play for the 2023 season.
Leading the Way: Kaitlyn Cooke and Sami Derrico have scored two goals apiece for the Jaspers, while four players have scored one goal in what has been a balanced scoring attack for Manhattan. Margaret Brunk has made 47 saves at the goalkeeper spot after facing 62 shots.Â
All-Time Series: Manhattan is 3-23-6 all time against Fairfield. The Jaspers took a 4-1 defeat on the road, in their most recent matchup in 2022.
Fairfield: Fairfield is 5-5-3 to start the season, including 3-2 in conference play. This past week they took back to back defeats including a 3-1 loss at Quinnipiac, and a 1-0 loss vs Canisius.Â
Standings:Â In what is currently a bunched up MAAC standings, the Jaspers currently sit tied at 6th place, with a conference record of 2-2-2. Fairfield is currently tied at 4th place with just one more point than the Jaspers. The Jaspers look to continue to pick up points, and find themself a spot in the conference tournament.Â
