Men's Soccer Tops Rider, 2-0

Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's soccer team took on Rider today under rainy conditions at Gaelic Park. The Jaspers pushed through the downpour and came away with a 2-0 victory to stay undefeated in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

"We continue to find ways to win against top teams and we are determined to be challenging at the top of the MAAC," said head coach Jorden Scott. "Rider have lost 1 game all season and we knew we had to be at our best.  The games and schedule don't get any easier so we will continue to stay focused on 1 game at a time."

It was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams in the first half with neither squad being able to find the back of the net. Rider led in shots 5-4, while both teams' goalies collected three saves a piece.

In the second half, the rain slowed down a little bit as they trekked up and down the wet field.

It was Gunnar Studenhofft, who drew out the Rider goalkeeper in the 77th minute which led to a foul and a penalty shot for Henry Hamilton. Hamilton found a sweet spot in the bottom right of the net to give Manhattan the 1-0 edge.

The roles switched four minutes later. Studenhofft made his presence on the field count when he caught a cross from Hamilton. Studenhofft found the bottom right side of the net for his fifth goal of the season and the Jaspers' second of the day.

DiMarco finished the afternoon with five saves.

Rider suffered its first loss in conference play, falling to 5-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in MAAC play.

Manhattan (4-4-2, 4-0 MAAC) will play its next two games on the road beginning Wednesday with a midweek contest at Fairfield. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
