Jaspers Host St. Francis Brooklyn & Visit Delaware State

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan women's soccer team is looking to bounce back this week after a tough 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wagner to open the 2022 season with a pair of matches.

They begin this week's slate on Thursday with St. Francis Brooklyn coming two boroughs up for a 7 p.m. contest at Gaelic Park. These two teams last met on the pitch in 2019, in which the Jaspers walked away with a 1-0 victory.

The Terriers, who are 1-2-1, are no strangers to the MAAC this season, having already faced off against two MAAC teams thus far. Their season opened with a 1-1 draw at Canisius before falling to Iona 3-1. Their lone win thus far came versus Hartford 3-2.

The Terriers' offensive attack is anchored by Isabelle Gollette and Margret Motolese, who have notched a pair of goals thus far. The Terriers have employed two goalies thus far, with Sage Bernstein and Kil Keshwar drawing two starts and playing 180 minutes.

The second match will send the Jasper's on the road for the first time this season, heading to Dover, Del. for a meeting with Delaware State on Monday, Sept. 5. Since 2005, the two schools have met six times, with Manhattan winning five times. In those six matches, the Jaspers have outscored Hornets 21-2.

In the same vein as the Terriers, the Hornets are also no strangers to the MAAC this season. Delaware State has faced Iona and Rider, losing both matches 5-1 and 6-0, respectively. Delaware State is 0-4 so far in 2022 and will play at UMBC on Thursday before hosting the Jaspers on Labor Day night.
