WASHINGTON D.C. – The Manhattan men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the year, dropping a non-conference match against George Washington, 4-2, Sunday afternoon.
The Jaspers now own a record of 1-1-0 while the Colonials improve to 1-0-1.
Henry Hamilton provided his first goal as a Jasper, beating the Colonial's Justin Grady in the 36th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
George Washington responded almost immediately, scoring in the 38th minute off the foot of Elias Norris to bring the match to a 1-1 draw. Oscar Haynes Brown would score what would end up becoming the game-winning game, thanks to a pass from Tiago Carvalho in the 46th minute.
George Washington would add two more insurance goals in the second half to extend the lead to 4-1 before captain
Dorian Bounab scored his first goal of the 2022 campaign in the 84th minute.
Manhattan is set to visit Philadelphia next weekend for a matchup with La Salle on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
